Yeah, I know, here in Philly you're not going to find flowers growing on every hillside like you do in Montana, but the fact is, even those of us who live in Montana and are surrounded by beauty spend most of our lives tromping through it or driving by it, and we never, ever notice it until someone points it out to us.

That's what I appreciate about artists - they have a capacity for finding the transcendant in the midst of the mundane.

That's what I appreciate about Christ and Scripture - they reach into our mundane lives and they make sense out of what otherwise appears ugly.

When that happens (whether through art or through Christ), I am reminded again just how poorly I see life most of the time.

Lord give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts that are inclined towards you!
